Question: How can I tell what my hull number is?
Answer: Look on the stern and you'll find a number pressed into the Fiberglas. The letters indicate whether your hull was built by Heritage Marine (HLK) or Nor'Sea Marine (NMI). The first five digits (including zeros) are the hull number; so 00500 is hull number 500. The last four digits are the month and year the hull was laid up; 0177 is January, 1977.

"Nightstands" in the Aft Cabin
by Martha Beth Lewis, #19(marbeth@ix.netcom.com)

Nightstands are handy things; that's why we have them shoreside! Aboard, there's the problem of what to do with the little items we like to keep near the bed. On Proper Motion, we solved the problem with closed-bottom binocular boxes. On the flat surface to either side of the aft porthole (in the aft cabin), John mounted two boxes. They're perfect to hold a book, reading glasses, sleep mask, and all the other little paraphernalia. John put another one (lined all around in foam) to hold his cell phone and 2-meter radio.

I suggested that he put a hand-held VHF box in the main cabin for holding sunglasses when we come down out of the cockpit. We're forever mislaying our sunglasses and having a place to at least *start* looking would be an improvement!
